How much does therapy cost?
It is true that therapy can be a big financial investment, and something to give serious thought to. But most people eventually decide to start therapy because the costs of not addressing their life issues become even greater.
My fee is in line with other professional psychologists on the East Bay, and is adjusted from time to time (generally once a year). I will work with you to try to find a fee that fits. Otherwise, I will provide you with referrals to trusted colleagues.
Do you accept insurance?
Currently, I am a provider for Blue Cross Anthem of California. That means that if you have this plan, I am an "in-network" provider.
However, even if this is not your health plan, many insurance carriers allow you to choose an "out-of-network" provider (generally PPO or POS plans). I can provide you with a statement of services which you can submit to seek reimbursement. If you opt to go this route, you will want to check with your carrier to verify coverage for out-of-network providers and for rates of reimbursement, including whether there is a deductible.
Many of my clients prefer to pay for their treatment "out of pocket" for a variety of reasons. Flexible spending accounts (FSA's) allow many individuals to "set aside" pre-tax dollars in order to pay for medical and mental health costs. This significantly reduces the overall real cost of therapy. Check and see if your employer offers such a plan.
Other thoughts about how to pay for therapy are discussed in the box to the right.
